Ethiopia : U Turn Copyright
In entertainment industry everywhere in the world must have strong copyrigth protection. This is partly to ensure the genuinity and survival of the industry and where the industry copyright is guaranteed.
A recent court decision on copyright case in Ethiopia has raised many doubts and questions about the stand and seriousness of the authority in ensuring there will be no unauthorised used of ones rights in entertainment industry.
The case of Zelalem and his son, Fisseha Zelalem, on October 9, 2009 charged with infringement of the copyright law, falsification, and making unauthorised use of the seal of Sony Film and Music Production, to bootleg music CDs and VCDs and they were acquitted eventually.
